COACH OF THE YEAR
Jonathan Watanabe, Cerritos
Cerritos coach Jonathan Watanabe’s team played all season with a heavy heart following the death of beloved team member Ethan Soriano, a senior who passed away following a tragic accident at basketball practice in November.
Watanabe’s team honored Soriano’s memory, who wore number 22, by winning 22 games, which poetically secured the program’s first CIF-Southern Section Division 4AA title.
Watanabe was also named the All-CIF Division 4AA Coach of the Year. Cerritos finished 22-11 overall and 10-0 in the 605 League.
