The name “Bradi Good” rang out over the barrel racing pen for years before she fully committed herself to terrorizing the breakaway ProRodeo world with consistent runs that saw her take check after check in average rodeo races.
Now, she’s an NFBR Qualifier, Texas Circuit Finals Qualifier and has a new horse she’s ready to put to use at a handful of Texas Circuit rodeos before she heads out for the summer in one of the best hauling groups going.
“Last year’s goal was just, ‘Make the [NFBR],'” Good, 20, said. “This year I have the confidence and can really take care of business. This year I want to be inside the top five and give myself a chance at a gold buckle.”
Hailing from Abilene, Texas, Good’s bloodline is rich with ropers. Grandfather Billy Frank Good made the Steer Roping Finals and father Shay Good competed in both calf roping and steer roping, making the Steer Roping Finals three times.

Good competed in a slew of events through junior high, shifting her focus to barrels and breakaway in high school and college, where she competed for Weatherford College.
From barrel racing to breakaway
“Throughout my high school career I was able to ride a great barrel horse named “Junior,” registered as Quick Aint Fair,” Good said. “Judi Reed owned him, and we clicked really well. I got to ride him, and then I bought a sister to him named Famous Bullets, futuritied her, and sold her this last December to Fallon Forbes, and she rode her at AT&T Stadium for the WRWC finals a few weeks ago.“

Some may ask, “If she was so good at barrel racing, why did she focus on breakaway?”
But for Good, it was never a hard choice.
“To me, breakaway was always the main event,” Good said. “Barrel racing came really natural to me so I did it for as long as I could, but with breakaway taking off in the ProRodeo world—and you can’t really do both—I had to pick and choose.”
Good said her first big win was at the Windy Ryon Memorial Roping in 2019—before she could ProRodeo.
“That win lit a fire in me that, ‘O.K., I can compete with these ladies.’ Fast forward a few years and I’ve had some big finishes at places like Puyallup and Sioux Falls in 2023.”
While some ropers in the ProRodeo arena are known for runs stopping the clock in less than 2 seconds, Good describes herself as a roper that shoots for the average.
“I would say I am more of an average, long-score roper,” Good said. “I try to win third or forth at every rodeo I go to. If the opportunity presents itself, yes I’ll try [to win] and go make my run, but those third-place checks add up.”
Good has two horses that match her go-for-the-average roping style set-for-step. Her main mount is “Rango,” A 15-year-old gelding who carried her to the NFBR in 2023.

“Rango was actually a tie-down horse,” Good said. “Tyler Milligan rode him at the NFR in 2020, and I bought him in 2021. He’s is one of the fastest horses out there going, and he’s so quick across the line that he excels at long scores like Cheyenne and Salinas. He’s super free and never takes my throw away. I just love him.”
Good’s new mount is 5-year-old futurity gelding “Roofie” she just purchased from Bailey Young. While Good had been looking for a shorter setup-type horse to add to her string for months, when she saw Roofie work at the Gold Buckle Futurity she knew he was the one.
“He’s a lot like Rango,” Good said. “He’s sired by Not Ruf At All and I am super excited about him this summer. I’m going to take him and show him the ropes.”
The magical hauling group
In 2023 there was a hauling group that rounded up more money than anyone else with ringleader and eventual world champion Shelby (Boisjoli) Meged at the helm.
“Hauling with Shelby last year was huge,” Good said. “I think it’s part of why Kendal [Pierson] and I made our first Finals. Shelby started the summer pretty far ahead, so it made me and Kendal rope better. We kept momentum going all summer. Kendal is so easy to get along with, and Shelby takes care of business. She and Haven are really smart—getting [entered] where we needed to and it really helped.”
The trio is partnering up again in 2024—but with an addition coming in late July.
“Come Dodge City Kansas, Josie Conner and I are getting in a rig while Shelby and Kendal are in another rig,” Good explained. “We’re still going to work together, we’ll just have two rigs.”

While many ProRodeo competitors find themselves moving to Texas for the rodeo community and claiming the Texas Circuit, Good prides herself on being an OG West Texan.
“I think the Texas Circuit is the best there is,” Good said. “There are so many good added money rodeos in Texas.”
The competition is tough, too. So much so that Good plans on rounding up at least $16K before she heads out for the summer run.
“Once we leave for the summer I won’t be able to do any Texas Circuit Rodeos,” Good said. “So I want to have the Circuit Finals made before I leave. I am sitting in the top 10 right now but we’re heading into a big week of Texas rodeos.”
Good is entered at Parker County Sheriff Posse Frontier Days and PRCA Rodeo, Coleman PRCA Rodeo and Johnson County Sheriff Posse’s Rodeo this week in an effort to round up that circuit cash.
