Av: Nyc-sao/gru $1300
Not a bad fare. Seems to be available through EOS incl. x-mas. via BOG and can be booked on all lie-flat 788s - beware the recliner options
Seeing $1300 with OTAs and $1368 direct w/ Avianca.
Now that they have proper business class back - worth a consideration. Not a bad fare in my book; too bad BOS is a lot more and no 788s

Interesting but Im not seeing any itineraries with the lie-flats (Oct or Dec) on both legs, at least s/b, looks like only the two overnight flights have the 788, otherwise its - EuroBusiness?!?

If I recall, Avianca discontinued their "real" business on all flights from the USA (were supposed to discontinue it everywhere, but seems like flights within LATAM still do). So yes, it's all economy seating. Given that Avianca's business class was nothing short of terrible, even with lie flat seats - this fare is only good if you need the extra mileage earning (otherwise consider it "economy")

AV has brought back J as a separate cabin on select US and intra-Americas routes, including some operated by the 788 with lie flats. Soft product might still be a crapshoot, but at least the hard product is there provided the aircraft type sticks.

This seems pretty critical. No idea how easy AV is to deal with if they swap you from lie flat to a coach seat but still call it "Business". AA's international tariff at one point had a carve-out that fares were refundable if there was an unacceptable equipment change (which in practice meant full flat bed to angled flat bed, or before that, angled flat to cradle/recliner).

I saw a few. The outbound is not easy - will be a longer layover in BOG, but some good connections on the way back that had all 788

It has been brought back maybe 2 months ago. True business and business service from what I understand

swapping a 788 to 320 is a lot more than just that switch ... that displaces a lot of pax. JFK has routinely had 788 and currently has 3 flights a day. Sure, one can't predict the future and yes, hard to tell if AV would re-accomodate in such cases

Based on my past experience with AV - unlikely.

From SFO (and LAX), you'd need to double connect through SAL/GUA and then BOG, with the first two legs (SFO/LAX-SAL/GUA-BOG) and vice versa on A320s with euro J. Even if the price is right, I wouldn't consider such a routing and seating configuration to be remotely attractive.
